NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 6, 2015 -- The American Red Cross Coastal Virginia has received a $50,000 donation from Norfolk, Va.-based PRA Group (Nasdaq:PRAA), a world leader in acquiring non-performing consumer debt, to support disaster relief operations locally and nationwide.

"In 2014, our local Red Cross responded to 217 individual disaster incidents, mostly house fires, in just the Hampton Roads area alone," said Ken Cason, Southeastern Virginia Chapter board chair. "Our disaster action teams provided emergency relief to more than 280 families, work that is only made possible by our generous donors. This gift from PRA not only supports these ongoing efforts in our community, but also ensures we have the necessary dollars in our national disaster fund to respond to a larger-scale incident that could affect any community in America at any time."

Kevin Stevenson, executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer for PRA Group, and board member of the American Red Cross of Southeastern Virginia, said, "Whenever there is an emergency caused by disaster, we all take for granted that the Red Cross will be there to respond. But without financial support, the Red Cross would not be able to provide shelter, food and services to help individuals and families get back on their feet. PRA is committed to doing our part to ensure that the Red Cross can continue to offer hope to anyone who may be in need, and we encourage other businesses and individuals in our area to do the same."

PRA Group has supported the American Red Cross with major contributions over the past 10 years to provide assistance to victims of natural disasters and other emergencies.
